http://gregorydowling.com/wp-content/plugins/revslider/includes/external/page/index.php EARLY HEAD START & HEAD START are federally-funded, comprehensive programs from pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers from low income families. The programs purpose is to provide educational opportunities for children to develop skills necessary for school readiness, to support children’s physical, social-emotional and cognitive development. The programs assist families with information on parenting skills and help parents move towards self-sufficiency. They also provide special services for children with disabilities. Head Start preshool services are provided to children in a classroom setting (center-based). Early Head Start services are provided in a classroom setting (center-based) and / or through regularly-scheduled home visits (home-based).
The Criteria
As mandated by the Federal Government, Head Start and Early Head Start primarily serve low-income families. Low-income is defined as those who are at or below the current year’s poverty guidelines. Nevertheless, up to 10% of those enrolled can be from families who are over-guidelines. Children with documented disabilities are given special consideration. Enrollment is based on the needs of the child and the family. Several factors are taken into consideration.
How to Apply
Below are the attached applications in English and Spanish for each of the programs. The application must be printed, completed, and sent to or dropped off at your local center (address below). Because signatures and verifications (age, immunizations, family income) are required, electronic submission is not supported.
